Derek Steveson,
PT, DPT

A native of northern Iowa, Derek is the founder and owner of The Functional Performance Center. Notably, he has served as the Official Rehabilitation Consultant for the AZ Diamondbacks from 2001 - 2007. He specializes in foot and ankle biomechanics and remarkably, has prescribed more than 5,000 pairs of custom orthotics and is an ASTYMCertified Rehabilitation Clinician. Derek received his Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1996. As a Faculty Member at the Gray Institute of Functional Transformation, Derek frequently lectures across the country on various topics related to Functional Biomechanics. He also enjoys staying involved with the community as a member of the Board of Directors for Connecting to Serve and working with youth to professional athletes of all sports. Shelley McClellan,
PT, DPT

Shelley is a Fellow of Applied Functional Science from the Gray Institute, received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ, and has been practicing physical therapy since 1998. She has worked with varied clientele and enjoys patients across the lifespan with varied functional demands. As a single mom to an active 9 year old girl, she is passionate about many health and wellness issues facing our youth today.

For seven years she was employed as the lead physical therapist for the Phoenix Suns team physician Richard Emerson, where she was part of a dynamic health care team providing care to many professional and amateur sports teams and athletes including injury prevention, sports performance, as well as rehabilitation.

Her philosophy of patient care is that every session is an evaluation of the whole kinetic chain and how the whole system is integrated into the unique demands of an individual. Having experienced Hamstring Avulsion first hand, including surgery and rehabilitation, she is particularly interested in hamstring injury and prevention. She is also the inventor of off-set weight vest training: CorePack.

Kyle Herrig,
MS, ATC, CSCS

Originally from Iowa, Kyle is a Certified Athletic Trainer who assists with the exercise prescription and rehabilitation programs of patients. He received his Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in Exercise Science from Iowa State University and Utah State University respectively, while assisting Division I athletes with prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries. Kyle now designs and implements functional training programs for individuals and athletes of all levels.

In his spare time, Kyle stays active and competitive by participating in the sport of triathlon, football, mountain biking, and various other activities.
